The National Research Centre (NRC), in collaboration with the Egyptian Foundation for Microbiome Sciences and Its Applications (EFMSA), is organizing a conference titled “The 5th Egyptian International Conference on Microbiota & Microbiome in Health and Disease.” This event is held under the auspices of Professor. Fagr Abdel-Gawad, Acting President of the NRC, and Professor Gina El Feky, Acting President of Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. The conference Chair is Professor Nahla Mansour, President and Founder of EFMSA, Professor of Microbial Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical and Drug Industries Institute, NRC. Co-Chaired by Professor Ramy Aziz, Co-Founder of EFMSA, Head of the Bioscience Research Laboratories, MARC, Egypt and Professor of Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University. The conference will be held in Dr. Hany ElNazer Hall (the new hall) at the National Research Centre on November 20 and 21, 2024.
The conference aims to promote understanding of microbiome sciences and their applications focusing on recent advancements in the field of natural microbes and their genes, and their role in host health or disease. There is a growing global interest in this field due to its significant impact on recovery from various diseases, including cancer, obesity, irritable bowel syndrome, and even mental health issues.
The event seeks to bring together academic and industrial stakeholders to emphasize the importance of microorganisms that coexist with humans or animals, raising awareness about this multidisciplinary field and discussing ways to maintain and sustainably develop natural microbiota.
Notably, the conference will feature a group of Egyptian scientists alongside their peers from several leading countries in microbiota and microbiome research across pharmaceutical, medical, veterinary, and nutritional disciplines. This will facilitate the exchange of experiences, showcase the latest research and technologies, and create opportunities for collaboration.
Participating countries include Qatar, England, USA, Italy, and Germany along with several Egyptian institutions including the NRC, Zewail City, the Sadat Institute for Genetic Research, the Agricultural Research Center, and Universities including Cairo, Ain Shams, Beni Suef, Mansoura, Menoufia, Badr, Suez Canal, and the American University in Cairo.
