For the third year in a row, the National Research Centre ranks first record in the Scimago Index for Research Centers and Institutes, third edition (2024) in Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa.

The Scimago Foundation is the editor of this academic classification in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Elsevier Foundation with the aim of creating a competitive environment to enhance the results of research issued by research centers, and to enhance cooperation between Egyptian research centers and their counterparts in the Middle East and North Africa.
The evaluation indicators are based on three main axes, the first of which is the institution’s research production, which includes the number of published international research articles, its quality, citation rates, and scientific value. The second axis includes innovation, reflecting the economic return of scientific research, and the third axis of the evaluation indicators deals with community services.
