NRC holds the First International Conference on Biotechnology and the Biodiversity Potentials from Natural Resources

The National Research Centre is holding the First International Conference on Biotechnology and the Biodiversity Potentials from Natural Resources

The Pharmaceutical and Drug Industries Research Institute at the National Research Centre (NRC) is holding The 1st International Conference on Biotechnology and the Biodiversity Potentials from Natural Resources in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry. The conference will be held on November 5 & 6, 2024, under the auspices of Professor Fagr Abdel-Gawad, Acting President of the NRC and Professor Emad Hassan, Assistant Deputy of Technical Affairs and Acting Dean of the Pharmaceutical and Drug Industries Research Institute, NRC. Conference Chair is Professor Faten Abd El-Hady from the Egyptian side and Dr. Giuseppina Tommonar from the Italian side. Egyptian Co-Chair, Professor Kamel Shaker and Italian Co-Chair Dr. Annabella Tramice.

The conference aims to follow up on the latest developments in the various applications of natural resources available throughout the country, including plants, herbs, marine organisms and microorganisms, and their ability to be transformed into economically and medically effective products that serve individuals. Thus, attempting to reduce the gap between scientific research and the requirements of the society, in line with the country’s vision for sustainable development and improving the quality of life.

The conference also aims to shed light on the following topics:
1- Isolation of microorganisms from marine habitats and terrestrial plants.
2- Biotechnological improvement of microorganism’s secondary metabolites.
3- Isolation and structural elucidation of pure compounds from natural resources.
4- Metabolomic profiling and chemical characterization of natural products via diverse spectrometric techniques, molecular networking and chemometrics.
5- Synthesis of bioactive natural products.
6- Evaluation of the biological activity of natural and synthetic compounds.

It is worth noting that a group of scientists from different countries, in various fields of innovation and development of natural resources, are participating in the conference, such as: Japan, Malaysia, and Italy.
