Bayer and Cleopatra Hospitals Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two sides in the fields of continuous medical education, patient health awareness, and scientific knowledge exchange, contributing to improving the quality of healthcare provided to patients in Egypt.
This step comes as part of both parties’ commitment to building an effective partnership between one of the world’s leading companies in life sciences and healthcare, and one of the largest healthcare service providers in Egypt and the region. The partnership aims to enable the implementation of scientific and awareness programs targeting physicians, healthcare professionals, and patients alike.
The MoU focuses on organizing medical, educational, and scientific programs directed at healthcare professionals, helping them stay up to date with the latest scientific developments and medical guidelines across several therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular health, allergy, and other priority fields. These programs also aim to support physicians’ ability to identify risk factors and disease indicators at an early stage, which positively reflects on the quality of diagnosis and care provided to patients.
The partnership also includes activities and initiatives designed to raise patients’ awareness of health risks associated with a number of diseases, as well as the importance of prevention, early detection, and adherence to medical guidance through Cleopatra Hospitals Group’s platforms, contributing to the delivery of simplified and reliable health information that helps patients and their families make more informed health decisions. Additionally, cooperation extends to studies on pharmacoeconomics and cost optimization to enhance dialogue with insurance companies around more efiicient and sustainable healthcare solutions.
As part of activating the provisions of the MoU, both parties agreed to establish a joint task force comprising representatives from Bayer and Cleopatra Hospitals Group. This task force will be responsible for setting the mechanisms for implementing the agreed activities, defining timelines, and monitoring progress within three months from the date of signing the MoU. Periodic meetings to be held to follow up on the implementation of the areas of cooperation throughout the term of the MoU.
Dr. Ahmed Ezz El-Din, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Cleopatra Hospitals Group, expressed his pleasure at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with Bayer, affirming that the Group represents the largest and most advanced integrated healthcare platform in Egypt’s private medical sector. He noted that the Group is leading the transformation of modern healthcare in Egypt and the region, and continues to expand its strategic partnerships to transfer knowledge, localize medical innovation, and raise the quality of healthcare services in line with the highest international standards.
He added that the Memorandum of Understanding with Bayer aims to enhance continuous medical education, transfer the latest treatment protocols, develop training programs for physicians and healthcare providers, strengthen health awareness, and expand pharmacoeconomic studies, contributing to improving the efficiency of healthcare spending and maximizing the therapeutic value delivered to patients.
Dr. Mohamed Galal, Cluster Head, Middle East and North Africa, Bayer Consumer Health, also stated that across the MENA region, Bayer is committed to bringing innovation closer to patients by partnering with leading healthcare systems to scale guideline-based care. Through this MoU with Cleopatra Hospitals Group, Bayer is focusing on high-impact areas by equipping physicians with the latest scientific evidence while empowering patients through Cleopatra Hospitals Group’s various platforms. “Our mission at Bayer — Health for All, Hunger for None — guides this collaboration to ensure that science translates into real access, and access into better health outcomes,” he said.
For his part, Hatem Ismail, Managing Director-Egypt Senior Finance Lead, Gulf, Levant and Egypt , said that Bayer believes effective partnerships with leading healthcare institutions are a key element in supporting community health and improving patients’ quality of life. He expressed his pleasure in cooperating with Cleopatra Hospitals Group, given its strong presence and extensive experience in delivering healthcare services in Egypt. He added that the MoU aims to support continuous medical education, enhance patient health awareness, and promote scientific knowledge exchange, in line with Bayer’s commitment to providing innovative healthcare solutions and contributing to the sustainable development of the healthcare system.
On another note, Dr. Ahmed Ezz explained that the Group, which comprises 16 specialized medical facilities and serves more than 2 million patients annually, has succeeded in building an integrated healthcare model based on corporate governance, digital transformation, continuous medical education, the development of clinical Centers of Excellence, and the support of scientific research, which has strengthened its position as one of the leading private healthcare entities supporting the development of Egypt’s healthcare system.
He also highlighted the Group’s partnerships with state institutions, foremost among them its cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Population and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, represented in the establishment and operation of Cleopatra Sky Hospital in New Cairo, with investments exceeding EGP 3.5 billion, as one of the most prominent models of integrated smart hospitals in the Middle East. He affirmed that the Group’s hospitals have evolved into advanced platforms for clinical training and continuous medical education through medical simulation programs, multidisciplinary training, the hosting of international experts, and the accreditation of a number of its hospitals as training centers for the Egyptian Board, medical fellowships, and nursing fellowships.
The Memorandum of Understanding also confirms both parties’ commitment to implementing any future activities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, while observing standards of compliance, transparency, data protection, and confidentiality. It also represents a framework for joint cooperation between the two sides for a period of one year, with the possibility of renewal by mutual written agreement.
This partnership reflects a growing trend toward strengthening cooperation between healthcare companies and major medical institutions, supporting the development of a more aware and efficient healthcare system, and placing the patient at the heart of priorities through the combination of scientific expertise, medical service, and simplified, continuous health education.
