The National Research Centre (NRC), through its Patent Office is holding the “International Conference of the Patent Contact Office in the fields of Agriculture and Food Security” from October 29 to 31, 2024, at the NRC. This event is under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Yasmin Fouad, Minister of Environment, Dr. Fagr Abdel-Gawad, Acting president of the NRC, and Dr. Gina El-Feki, Acting President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. The conference will be chaired by Dr. Wafaa Haggag, Supervisor of the NRC’s Patent Office. This conference aims to support the center’s roadmap for innovative technologies in agriculture to achieve a balance between increasing food production for self-sufficiency, food security, and economic growth. It also seeks collaboration with international federations, universities, and research centers to enhance the role of innovation and patents in scientific research, as well as partnerships with businessmen and companies to invest in green innovation to support the national economy and entrepreneurship.Additionally, the conference will address the role of intellectual property in the national economy, maximizing the benefits of patents in green technology, enhancing environmental sustainability and food security by improving the quality of agricultural products and food safety, adapting to environmental and climatic changes, and utilizing smart applications in agriculture for the sustainability of food security. It will evaluate lands for optimal crop selection in new reclamation projects using remote sensing and artificial intelligence applications in agriculture and environment, as well as the carbon footprint of agricultural crops. The aim is to maximize the benefit from agricultural waste in food and pharmaceutical manufacturing, increasing its effectiveness and producing applicable compounds for food manufacturing and successful marketing. Moreover, the conference aims to foster collaboration with industry, develop local industry, in addition to the transfer and commercialization of technological innovations to link research outcomes with industry.It is noteworthy that a research product exhibition, showcasing patents on agricultural innovations and applications, will be organized alongside the conference. A diverse group of Egyptian and international scientists, researchers, as well as businessmen and investors will participate in the event.
