The National Research Centre organizes The First International Meeting on Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG) in the Middle East
The 1st International Meeting on Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG), will be held at the National Research Centre (NRC) on October 29 & 30, 2024, under the auspices of Professor Fagr Abdel-Gawad, Acting President of the NRC, the supervision of Professor Hesham Fayek, Dean of the Human Genetics and Genome Research Institute at the NRC, and headed by Dr. Sahar Sabry, Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemical Genetics, Human Genetics and Genome Research Institute, NRC.
It is worth noting that this meeting is the first to be held in the Middle East within the GlycoEgypt Initiative affiliated with the National Society for Human Genetics under the umbrella of the Human Genetics and Genome Research Institute at the NRC.The meeting’s activities will include the following topics:Introducing this group of genetic diseases.
How to conduct differential diagnosis (clinical and laboratory) to determine the presence or absence of CDG.Available treatment modalities for some of these diseases.Lectures will be presented by experts from different countries (France, Belgium, the United States of America, Mexico and England) sharing their experiences with researchers in Egypt.
Egyptian researchers will share their experiences in clinical diagnosis and research in CDG in Egyptian patients.An introductory session will be held on the sidelines of the meeting, for a group of families with affected children by CDG, including interactive lectures for psychological support.
